I am grateful for…

I am grateful for my many blessings. However, I’m especially grateful for:

The fact that this year has been a good one at work.  We are celebrating our 20th Anniversary and, as at 30 May 2015, we have had five very successful events.

I am grateful for the fact that I had the foresight to begin this blog entry on 23 March 2014 and I am still adding to it!!!!!

Clean drinking water! If you’ve ever lived through a hurricane, or a drought then you know what I mean.

My homes and trusty old car! No, I’m not posting photos of where I live and what I drive on the Internet… I’m not completely insane… :)

An annual family tradition, unbroken since my grandparents began it in 1927!  I’m honoured to be the one to whom the responsibility has fallen to keep this going!  I’m committed to getting us to 2027… and then we’ll see…

Danny, Chase, Fern, Sheldon, Shellianne, Holly, the Fisher Family that lives in the pond in my backyard!  It may be difficult to find the time to feed each of you every morning before I go to work, but I wouldn’t trade that chore for anything!

The fact that despite the tough times, I can still pay my  bills… and then some… Believe me, the more I chat with others out there, the more I realize that that is something for which I must be TRULY grateful!

DSC01711Health and strength… I’ve done one 5K road race each month of 2014 so far… I’m aiming for at least 12 this year.

The fact that I still have a sense of humour!  I was thinking about things that I can add to my poem Marathon Run… and realized that for a lot of the race, I’m not thinking about anything at all… I’m just trying to keep putting one foot in front of the other and ensure that I don’t finish in last place!

My emerging talent as a writer! And, of course, for the many people who have encouraged me along this path!

My broad-based education!!! I’m very grateful too, for the fact that my parents were patient with me when things weren’t going well at school.  For a time we wondered if I’d ever graduate from university… Now I’m in a PhD programme… and wondering if I’ll graduate from that.  (Sigh)

I’m very, very grateful for my Gabrielle Burns website of poems, stories, blogs, photos, the evidence of creativity and friendship.

My 48th birthday tomorrow. :o)  I’m grateful for the fact that I’ve weathered the storms and people don’t believe that I’m this old…Perhaps I’m aging more gracefully than I realized, or the wear-and-tear isn’t as bad as I imagine.

A job that matters to Jamaica’s future.

My Life! Despite the hiccups, I have had a PHENOMENAL life!
