Take heed, but have hope, Myself; you are becoming a leader.
Learn that dreams are fragile, and destiny, fluid.
I witnessed at first hand the horror of my fear.
I stared into the abyss of an uncertain future as
my dreams unfolded before me,
And overwhelmed, I recoiled,
as if from a dead croaking lizard.
I volunteered, and was chosen by Fate to lead my people,
my staff, the ideas that exploded from my mind.
Too costly though, I reckoned, the price of mistakes
So I chose, instead, to do nothing, I hid,
and paid more in lost self-esteem.
What is the real cost of fear?
The reckoning in dollars is not the price.
My soul paid a toll that was not fair
since it signed the contract, though my courage failed;
on those occasions, but I will rise yet again.
My dreams, now grander, the remedy of fear is to dare again.
To emerge from lessons learned, not damaged, but wiser.
That is a skill acquired and added to my toolkit, resilience.
Declaring boldly: I am here, choose me again!
I may yet fail Myself, but not such as this.
My growth is assured in the detritus of my slayed dreams
of dragons and knights, and lessons learned.
