Fertile Ground

Fallow is the ground on which my anger lies.
It is pointless to rage against the waves of regret.
But I judge you, even as I forgive your
fulsome praise of my most meaningless qualities,
While ignoring my vast potential, the world.

Unsuspected qualities finally revealed
through life’s prism’s unrelenting inspection.
I am Wu Yajun or Deborah, or yes, I am Helen.
I’m Nanny, Mother Teresa or Jeanne d‘Arc.
I am a leader, a warrior, a saint, a sage.

I walk on many paths, telling one story:
I am invincible. I am a strong woman.
